https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43196While I don't have a list of all the security patches that there have been against Linux in the 18 months since 3.4 was released (and no doubt many of them won't affect me any way), it feels unwise not to have a fully patched OS. Ubuntu (that I use as a desktop OS), pushes out a kernel security patch about three times a month.
I would like to experiment with btrfs, and I know from reading that mailing list that the most recent Linux release is considered the oldest acceptable kernel to be running, and it is better to have applied their stable patchsets to that kernel as well. I would get laughed off the list if I mentioned that I was trying to run the version of btrfs that appeared in and 18 month old kernel.
What comparable SoC is there with (more) complete mainline support?
