stuck in initramfs mode, can't mount disk

I've installed Etch build successfully on 3 boxes but on the 4th I'm  
having a problem.

The install goes well but after rebooting it can't mount the disk drive.

I get the following at the console.

Check root = bootarg cat /proc /cmdline or missing modules, devices:  
cat /proc/modules
ls /dev ALERT! /dev/sdb1 does not exist.  Dropping to a shell

BusyBox V1.1.1.3

(initramfs)


Hardware:  Dell PowerEdge 2950, Dual Xeon 3.0GHZ, SATA Drives  
connected to PERC 5/i Controller.

Any hints would be greatly appreciated.
