Re: Activation of Speech Dispatcher under squeeze

Dear all,

I see there are very strong feelings about the user session
vs. system wide model. While I understand the concerns
that we all have with bringing the accessibility solutions
from system wide to user session, I can also see the difficulties
which we are running into if we were to keep everything
running as system services. It is because that is what we have
been doing for a long time, and believe me that our decision to
adapt the user-session model was also for other reasons
than just to upset people :)

I propose, therefore, that I'll compile a brief analysis
of pros and cons of both methods, with regards to the
current state and to where we are heading with the 0.8
release.

That will I think make it more clear for all of us which
relations does either of the two paths have, and if/how
is it possible to make both possible or even integrate
both of them for various purposes in one installation.

We shall then lead constructive discussion over these
pros and cons and choose the correct path for the future.

Does that sound right?

Best regards,
Hynek Hanke
