I too had 2.6.18 crash this week, I wonder if it is the same issue.

To record the stack trace, you can't use the serial console since the 
serial driver isn't available. But you can still use the serial port.

First, install ZTerm on the mac. Use that to verify that your remote host 
will capture serial output at 9600 baud, no parity, 8 data bits.

Then boot linux on the mac with "debug=ser" or "debug=ser1" added to the 
kernel command line (if you are using the modem port. Use "debug=ser2" for 
the printer port). Make sure Penguin is set to preconfigure the serial 
port(s).
