Have had (and having) similar problems on SE30. Fiddling with the boot settings as Michael suggested has helped me. Also, you might find that adding physical RAM might change things too. When going from 8 to 20 Mb I found I had to adjust the settings again just to get the machine to boot. The SCSI driver needs work.
